What is a Calorie Calculator?
A calorie calculator estimates the daily calorie intake that may roughly maintain your current body weight. It combines a resting energy estimate with an activity factor so the result reflects a normal day rather than complete rest.
This page is different from a general TDEE explainer because the main job is practical target setting: giving you a starting maintenance calorie number you can use before adjusting for fat loss, muscle gain, training performance, and real-world progress.
The result is still an estimate, not a diagnosis or guaranteed nutrition prescription. Body composition, routine, food tracking accuracy, and weekly activity can all change the calorie intake that works for you.
How It's Calculated
This calculator estimates BMR with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, then multiplies that resting estimate by the selected activity factor to estimate maintenance calories. For men, the formula is BMR = 10W + 6.25H - 5A + 5. For women, the formula is BMR = 10W + 6.25H - 5A - 161. Maintenance calories are then estimated as BMR x Activity Multiplier. The activity multipliers are common planning factors. They help turn a resting estimate into a daily target, but choosing an activity level adds uncertainty, so the number should be tested against weight trend and training feedback.

What to Do With Your Result
Use the result as a maintenance starting point. If your goal is fat loss, muscle gain, or performance, make small changes from this baseline instead of treating the first number as permanent.
Compare the estimate with two to three weeks of body weight trend, training output, hunger, and recovery. A stable trend suggests the estimate is close; a clear trend up or down means the target may need adjustment.
