How to Do the Single-Arm Dumbbell Bench Press With Proper Form
Lie on a flat bench with your feet planted firmly and slightly wider than usual for stability.
Hold one dumbbell beside your chest and set the working-side shoulder blade against the bench.
Brace your trunk before moving and keep both shoulders and both hips square to the bench.
Lower the dumbbell under control toward the side of your chest while keeping the wrist stacked over the forearm.
Stop at the deepest comfortable position without letting the torso rotate or the opposite hip lift.
Press the dumbbell upward along a controlled path until the elbow is extended.
Complete the planned repetitions while maintaining trunk position, then switch sides.

Why Single-Arm Pressing Creates an Anti-Rotation Challenge
With one dumbbell loaded and the opposite side unloaded, the torso experiences an asymmetrical force. Your trunk has to resist rolling toward or away from the working side while the chest and arm complete the press.
Single-Arm vs Two-Arm Dumbbell Bench Press
