How to Do a Donkey Calf Raise

01

Position yourself in a donkey calf raise machine (or set up on a block with a belt/partner).

02

Place the balls of your feet on the elevated foot block and lower your hips so your torso is bent forward 90 degrees at the waist.

03

Rest the padded waist lever securely across your lower back / pelvis.

04

Keep your knees soft with a slight, un-locked bend and arms supported on the machine handles.

05

Lower your heels as far as comfortably possible toward the floor into a deep calf stretch.

06

Press through the balls of your feet, extending your ankles into full plantar flexion.

07

Squeeze your gastrocnemius hard at peak extension for a full second before lowering slowly.
